foodwatch is an organization that works to strengthen consumer rights in the German food market. Through independent research and analysis, it informs the public about misleading product information and food containing health risks. The organization mobilizes consumer-protest activities and proposes legislation changes. In 2008, it commissioned the Institute for Ecological Economy Research in Berlin to examine the respective contribution of conventional and organic agriculture in Germany to the greenhouse effect.
