Lwazi Bam

Chief Executive Officer, Deloitte

Lwazi Bam is the Chief Executive Officer for Deloitte Africa and Southern Africa, leading the firm since 1 June 2012. He is also a member of the Deloitte Global Executive Committee.

Lwazi joined Deloitte in 1994 and was appointed into the partnership in 2003. His appointments as Chief Executive of Deloitte Southern Africa and Chief Executive of Deloitte Africa took place on 1 June 2012 on 1 June 2013 respectively.

Under his leadership, Lwazi led the integration of several Deloitte practices, across Anglophone Africa, into one combined Africa member-firm of the Global Deloitte Network. Today Deloitte Africa spans across 17 countries, with approximately 6000 professionals and 380 partners and directors, and with net revenues of R6.1bn (FY18).

Prior to his role as Africa CEO, Lwazi served on the Deloitte Global Board and on the Global Risk and Strategy Review committees. Throughout his +25 year-tenure with the firm, Lwazi served in a number of other roles including being a member of the Deloitte Southern Africa Board of partners and directors, holding executive responsibility for the firm’s strategy, and leading the Corporate Finance business (now Financial Advisory). Lwazi also played a role as the Head of Mergers and Acquisitions Advisory.

His work has covered many industry sectors including transportation, financial services, fuel and fleet management, technology, and media.

Outside of Deloitte, Lwazi holds office as the Chairman of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) (one of the primary regulatory bodies in the Auditing profession in South Africa). Lwazi is also the Chairman of the African Children’s Feeding Scheme (ACFS), and is the Past President of the Association for the Advancement of Accountants in Southern Africa (ABASA).
